What a weekend to remember for Uppermill Band!

 

At the North West Area Brass Band Contest in Blackpool, the band delivered a performance to be proud of, earning 3rd place and securing an invitation to represent the North West at the National Finals this September.

 

This year’s set work was 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea by Philip Harper. An exciting, dramatic and technically demanding piece inspired by Jules Verne’s classic tale.

 

Tha band embraced the challenge and the music took us on a thrilling underwater journey full of colour, character and intensity. We truly enjoyed rehearsing and preparing this piece and as contest day approached, we felt confident in the work we had put in.

 

Drawn 15th out of 19 bands, we knew we would be performing in the latter half of a strong field. Taking to the stage in Blackpool, the band delivered a strong and committed performance.

 

The standard across the region was very high, and we would like to congratulate all the bands who took part for their excellent performances throughout the day - especially to Lostock Hall and Bollington on their respective 1st and 2nd places!

 

When the results were announced and Uppermill Band was awarded 3rd place and an invitation to represent the North West at the National Finals.

 

We are thrilled to be heading to the York Barbican this September for the National Finals. To have the opportunity to represent the North West on the national stage is a huge honour, and the band is already excited about the challenge ahead. Bring on September!
